Go Daddy to take over RegisterFly domains

Posted on May 30, 2007

It was announced yesterday that Go Daddy has reached an agreement with RegisterFly and ICANN to take over approximately 850,000 RegisterFly domains still under control of RegisterFly CEO, Kevin Medina.

We’re pleased to be providing a safe, reliable home for your domain names. We’re in the process of getting everything ready for you, so your transition to GoDaddy.com® will be fast, easy and as smooth as possible.

Within the next few days, you should be receiving an email from us regarding how to log in to your account, as well as manage your domains. In the meantime, please feel free to check back at GoDaddy.com for any new developments.

We look forward to having you as a member of the Go Daddy family.

This is obviously great news for all three parties involved in the agreement. Great for GoDaddy, with added business of all the RegisterFly customers. Great for RegisterFly customers, because they have industry leading GoDdady support just a phone call or e-mail away. Great for ICANN, because Go Daddy is probably the only registrar with the manpower to clean up this Kevin Medina mess. Way to go GoDaddy!

Go Daddy now offers premium domains!

Posted on April 14, 2007

If you have searched for domains recently at Go Daddy you will notice a new offering of “premium domains.” We’re assuming Go Daddy has affiliated with some domain auction sites such as Afternic, Fabulous, Sedo, and BuyDomains to offer these domains. Sorry, GoDaddy, but this new feature is pretty weak. Most of the domains we’ve seen are not premium at all and for sale at ridiculous prices. Please dump the “premium domains” ASAP!

More information and full price list here: https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/transfers/registerfly.asp.

Go Daddy shuts down site hosting illegal content.

Posted on January 27, 2007

A couple days ago MySpace officials demanded that Go Daddy shut down Seclists.org, which hosts roughly 250,000 pages of mailing list archives and other resources, because there was a list of thousands of MySpace account login information archived on the site. Go Daddy complied and pulled the plug on the site. The site was inaccessible for about 7 hours until the site owner of Seclists.org, Fyodor Vaskovich, found out what was going on and removed the lists. In a Go Daddy response, the Director of Network Abuse, Ben Butler, “As we have said to our customers - Go Daddy is committed to keeping the Internet a safe place. If there is material online that is jeopardizing Internet safety, we will take necessary action.”

What is GoDaddyRocks.com’s response on this? We think Go Daddy made a great decision. These password lists were compromising the safety of MySpace users and Go Daddy took the appropriate action by shutting down the site. Thanks Go Daddy for making the internet a safer place!

2nd Go Daddy commercial denied by ABC

Posted on January 22, 2007

Yet another Go Daddy Super Bowl gets rejected by ABC. This time it’s a commercial about two office workers registering personal domain names, and it gets pretty stupid and immature. Sorry GoDaddy, but this commercial simply is not funny at all. Get some better material!

This code is a bit old but we thought we’d let our readers know about it anyway. The code is “LOL41″ (without quotes) and not applicable to product renewals, domain transfers, reduced-price/bulk-priced domain names, gift cards or Bob Parsons(TM) posters. This offer additionally cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. The code expires 1/24/07 so you still have a couple weeks left to save on bulk orders. Enjoy!
